Can a box of reeds be kept many years? Do they deteriorate in time? How about those unpacked but not used? Thanks in advance.

Timmy is correct. I've seen some 25 year old Rico's selling for very high prices in various places.

Reeds will deteriorate over a significant length of time. And the Sun will cool and life on Earth will end. The reeds will probably go first.

Older the better as long as they have been kept well. My teacher searches high and low for old Vandorens for this reason. I hear John Harle has a drawer full as well.

If kept cool and dry (but not too dry) they will outlast you.
This assumes that they've never been played
