I've not been able to find any pictures nor have ready access to any P-Chamber Dukoffs. Supposedly a D-style baffle with a larger chamber. I'm interested in anyone's opinion who has played one or would like to hear from anyone who has one they'd be willing to part with. Tip opening between .100 and .130 preferred.

I own both a nickel-plated Dukoff D8 (modified superbly by Kieth “Mojo” Bradbury from a D6 that I bought in the 1970s) and a poorly finished silverite Dukoff P8 (bought in the 1990s). They both have the same baffle, but the P has a larger chamber and a more full-bodied tone and sound compared to the D-series. I really like the sound and versatility of the P series over the D series.

The Mojo modified nickel-plated Dukoff D is my main piece (rock, RnB), but I would have preferred sending Mojo the Dukoff P8 if it were not made of the soft silverite metal (you REALLY have to be careful about any scratches on the tip or side rails -- Mr. Dukoff should offer his current mouthpiece designs in either solid metal or plastic so that any refacing work will hold up over time).

Eventually, I will need to replace my nickel-plated silverite Dukoff D with either a plastic Dukoff D series (no longer made), Guardala, Vandoren Jumbo Java or Berg Larsen.

Well, I had GREAT success perfecting an H-chamber piece and am looking forward to the chance to tweak a P. If you ever look to part ways with the P, let me know.

I, too, wish that something other than silverite was available. I shot an email asking if they could be made in brass, but no response.

The Dukoff P's are great pieces. A very freeblowing piece with a focused tone but with warmth backing it up. I too wonder why Dukoffs are not available in other materials (not a 'Silverite' fan). Billy Ross, who recorded a Stan Getz tribute album plays a P chamber and sounds amazing. I found a web-site a few months ago that still had a few of the Dukoff P's for tenor.

I bought Aaron Santee's modified P chamber from him last year on ebay. A P10. One of the most versatile pieces I own. The body of the mouthpiece is fatter than the other Dukoffs, the metal is thicker on the shank as well. It actually takes a modified Selmer TENOR ligature. More solid sound than the D or M, closer to my LD7, but more edge. Pics are here:

I had this for sale on the board a few months back with little interest. However, after playing it again...
Sorry, it is no longer for sale, but if I decide to sell it in the future, I'll contact you.

I play on a Dukoff P8 alto, that i think is stock. I also have a few D's on alto.
The D and P are basically the same mouthpiece except the P apparently has a somewht larger chamber. Sometimes I prefer the D. sometimes i prefer the P.

As far as i know the P's are still for sale direct from Dukoff from the website.

The reason for the Silverite mateial (according from the website) is that the material was specifically formulated and used because of its resonating properties.

Actually the Silverite material is nothing more than "pot" metal. It has a long history of being less than idea for making mouthpieces. Seems that this material was chosen more because it's easier to make a mouthpiece with it, than it having any real positive affect on the tone.

If Dukoff actually made their pieces out of bell metal than they might be worth refacing which most are in need of.

has anyone else had experience with this mouthpiece? and is there a place on the net where I can order one other than Dukoff's website?

Ive played a dukoff p7 tenor. great piece. i liked the d chamber and my jumbo javas more though but they are still great pieces. sanborn, brecker, randolph, clemmons, cole and tons of other big time pros make that "pot metal" sound pretty good. not for amatuers..

I played a P8 for tenor for around a year. I really liked the sound. But as my embouchure strengthend it started sounding very harsh in the upper register. the baffle looked a lot like the 2 chamber Bergs (maybe a a bit higher).
I'm currently playing a L8 and i like the tone and control much more. The L8 seems less reed friendly though.
