What do you think about the saxophone solos in Catch Me If You Can and what type of saxophone is it, and do you know where I can find saxophone sheet music for the music in catch me if you can?

woodwindmaster06,
I don't know about the sheet music, but John Williams has arranged a suite for alto sax and orchestra from his score. I know that the Illinois Philharmonic is planning to perform it and I belive the Pittsburgh Symphony too.

I just watched that movie this weekend on DVD. On the second DVD of "extra features" there is a good interview with John Williams along with a few shots in the recording studio.
There are DVD movies that have a "music only" audio track, but unfortunately CMIYC does not have that feature.
Dan Higgins did the work on "Catch Me..." He appeared on PBS two weeks ago with the Boston Pops (John Williams conducting) and did a superb job of playing that work using a Meyer (5 or 6?).
Shows you that a Meyer works very well in a "classical" (i.e. "controlled")setting as well as otherwise, depending on the player's approach and abilities. I emailed Dan and got an immediate reply. He and Mr. Williams are perfrming the piece again this weekend with the Hollywood Bowl Symphony in LA. Check out Dan's website. Between him and Gary Foster, they have LA covered on alto!
