I have a Conn Eagle soprano mouthpiece that is my favorite, and only playable (for me) mouthpiece, so I don't want to send it off for repair.

It has a "chip" on the chamber side of the rail. I'm not sure it's chip, but it's equivalent. The rail is a little thinner where the chip is located, but there is flat rail surface to contact the reed. It doesn't affect playing, except I sometimes loose air, at the chip location, if the reed is not positioned properly.

What material would be good to repair the chip?

Epoxy. JB Weld is good.

Epoxy alone is fine, but epoxy (or 'superglue') mixed with some ground-up hard-rubber powder is even better. Make sure you clean the area to be filled with acetone (nail-polish remover is basically acetone) just prior to applying the past --- but you have to apply the epoxy or superglue paste slightly raised above the mouthpiece surface because it shrinks a bit as it dries -- then you'll have to sand it smooth and level. May be a good excuse to get the facing touched up!
