If you are anywhere near Baltimore, I very highly recommend Larry Leeds. Most of the sax players I work with in town already go to Larry. If you are looking for a tech, I think you'd be very pleased with Larry's work.
I've taken my Mark VII alto, Mark VI alto, and 1937 Balanced Action tenor to Larry and have been extremely pleased with the results. Larry works alone and gives your horn his personal attention. He's VERY detail and quality oriented and takes no shortcuts in performing the best possible work on your horn.
He's very good at fixing keywork and other mechanical problems.
Prices are also very very reasonable, and he never tries to "sell" you on anything you don't need.
Just got the Balanced Action back from his shop and I'm thrilled. Sounds, feels, and looks outstanding.
Sorry if this reads like a commercial, but I enjoy recognizing the work of craftsmen who really care about their work and their customers. Plus Larry is a helluva nice guy and a pleasure to work with.
Don't know if he has e-mail, but if you want his phone number, e-mail me at steve.w3sy@erols.com and I'll put you in touch.
Thanks,
SteveS
