Anyone played a King Tempo Bari? If so, can you please share your observations? Were these made by Keilwerth, or some other German manufacturer?

I recently bought a King Tempo A bari from baribri, and just used in for the first time on a gig this weekend...it took me a little while to get used to it after playing an older King Zephyr bari previously, but it's really growing on me. The key work is surprisingly nice for a stencil...and the high end is much more tenor-like than my Zephyr. I find that it needs less air than the Zephyr, which took some getting useful at the bottom end, but gives me more dynamic control. Overall, I am quite happy with the change and it will become my main bari! I sold one of my Zephs already, and may look for something else in a more modern Bb horn for a backup (maybe a Bundy)
Brian said that it is a Keilwerth stencil...it looks exactly like a Couf Superba, although it does NOT say made in Germany anywhere and does say King...Cleveland, Ohio on the engraving.

Hi guys,
glad you like the horn guy, it really is something special, nobody uses that quality of brass anymore, just isn't made that way, same way Mulligan used to lament about Selmer not using the same quality of brass as his Conn bari.
These horns were absolutely and positively made by Keilwerth, after all my years at USA HORN I can tell you that nobody made horns like those with convex posts and all of the other features, they are identical to the Couf Superba II models and are pro horns.
There is one on ebay right now from Algee in Florida (a dealer and a nice reliable guy) for $1350.00 as a starting price goes to Bb and I also have one I am selling for $1250.00 that has just had an overhaul it is also to Bb.
Hey Mr. Rosner give me a shout, maybe you just found your backup for a Bundy price!!!

That one in Florida is the one I'm interested in. I'm in Alabama, so the shipping might be a little less than I had expected to pay elsewhere.

Is the King Tempo tenor also the same as a Couf Superba II tenor? I have one (bari is my main instrument) that sort of plays, but it's in pretty sound mechanical shape, and with a little tlc from the repaiman, could be made into a playable horn. Just need to get around to it....concentrating on the bari (cannonball big bell, silver plate).

I've always read that if it is a Bundy and says made in Germany, buy it.
