Over the phone people always think the worst when you mention a name they have never heard of. Then, when you proceed to tell them you know quite a few players online that are professionals who prefer it to a Mark VI or Selmer 54, they look at you even crazier, especially after hearing "online". But he went through it and was very impressed. He could tell it was a Selmer 54 copy, he said the metal was nice and sturdy and solid, he said it plays very nicely and solid and has a nice tone, and he was very impressed with the overall quality. He's going to be setting it up and going over it, which he was quite anxious to do. Just thought I'd let everyone know. He's a Selmer fan, btw.

i had the same reaction to my 66r..the repair guy had never seen one and was curious about it...once he heard it was a "Tiawan" horn he frowned a little...then statrted to get into it..needed a few tweeks..then he played it! I could see in his face that he was confused (how could this horn sound so good and not be a selmer)..it was very comical.....a word to all naw-sayers: try this horn! i will surly suprise you (and your wallet)
just my 2¢

Good. Now one slightly impolite quesiton. How good players are these techies? :D

Gary, interesting point....thing is, sometimes techs look at aspects of the horn that the player doesn't really notice and then they make their judgements based on said criteria.
My tech, (who is a whiz) and cannot really play anything but scales on all the horns, absolutely hates my Cannonball 98 alto. He says it is "rough" and I understand his point of view concerning the milling of the keys, etc...
But the fact remains that my 98 alto is an absolute killer of a player and I would rather gig with it than any of my altos.
I am awaiting my PM tenor. Jason has said he would try to finish it soon. As soon as I get it I will post....

He's really teasing you isn't he? It's not my horn but even I'm anxious to see it done lol.

No Dakt, he isn't teasing me.....;)
Torturing me is more like it!!:D
I gave Jason carte blanche with this horn, no hurry....just make it awe inspiring.
However, since I have been reading so many good things about these horns in the last couple of months, I have gotten a bit antsy.
Soon I think, soon....

I figure I'll buy the P back from you after all the upgrades, in order to fund a certain Inderbinen.

If you're interested in the P. Good horn. You can also hear me on a Yamaha and my The Martin for comparison. Gas is a bad, bad, thing. K

I trialed the P along with this New King for a couple of guys who I trust and basically the P wins out at med to loud volumes. Plus its so close I can't justify the 1600? I did however like the action on the NK so I'm having my tech lower my key heights. Big Daddys horn had great action so it can be done without sacrificing tone. K
