I've been reading a lot of positive stuff on the Aristocrat sax. I've found a really good alto for under $250 and reeeeeeaally wanna buy it. However the serial on it perplexes me. It has the "big B" on the front but the serial number is 4125XXXXX. and I can't find any info on that serial or the years that it was made. Can anyone help!

Does the Big B and engraving look like this?

This is the Big B Aristocrat made from about serial #290,xxx-330,xxx (1941-'51 - a little later for baris). Can't explain your serial number, unless perhaps it's really a patent number. Look for a number with 6 digits, stamped in sort of an arc shape. That should be the serial.
