Broken Link?

I've been playing a Selmer BA 1936 with a metal Link7* for about 10 years. Suddenly the mouthpiece refuses to play! It's not the horn (I've tried it with my ebonite link). I can't see that I've bashed the rails...but what else can it be? Anyone else had the same problem?

You sound like you would have noticed this, but if you're playing the stock link ligature, that piece of c**p may not be holding the reed properly. Try something else, even some rubber bands, and see what happens. If it helps you can go buy a good lig, like a Selmer 404.

BTW, I play that same setup. Pretty nice (when it works).

Thanks...tried it. Sometimes sucessful, but on a gig, a 50% success rate isn't quite the thing! Good excuse to go to the mouthpiece shop and try out a few things. Might try a Link New York model, Selmer Soloist etc.
