I just picked up a Theo Link 6*. After playing with dental wax baffles
in my 6*, I thought I would try a fully modified Link from a mpc pro.
Well, I'll have to say it is not what I expected at all. No problems
with playability. The sound is a little like a 50/50 cross between a
Link and a 0 chamber Berg. It's a good sounding mpc, but I think
I like my Link with the dental wax sound a little better. Mine does not
have the edge of the Theo Link. Mine is a smoother, brighter sound.
It is crisper and clearer than the Theo Link. The Theo does have a
great eveness of tone throughout, and speaks on the bottom a
little easier than mine. Anyone else use one or another by JVW
let me know. I'm still searching for the perfect piece. I do have
a vintage Brilhart HR on the way back from "Doc" Tenney. I'll
let you know how it plays.
