I need a tenor really bad. Money is tight and $750 is my limit right now. I can pick up a ts200 used for that price. Thoughts?
I played alot during all my school years being active in concert, jazz and church bands. I continued to play until I was about 25 when money forced me to sell my selmer mark vi. I have played off and on over the last 15 years on a pos bundy alto.
Thanks for your help.
The TS200 is an intermediate sax. I've never played one but I did try an AS200 alto. PSO-no better than the Bundy. For $750 you can get a nice pro vintage sax. Look for a Buescher Aristocrat in the 280,000 to 300,000 serial number range. (made about 1937-1945.)
The Conn 10M is also very nice but they're more in demand, consequently prices are higher.

How about a 1936 Aristrocat 273xxx or a 1934 Conn transitional 260xxx? The Conn serial number puts it pretty near the end of the transition according to what I have found.
Thanks for your help. I am sure there are lot of "broke guys" looking for horns and your information has been very helpful.

Either of those would be fine. Back in 1963 Selmer USA bought Buescher. Consequently, the Bundy line of saxes used the Buescher tooling so all vintage Bueschers and post 1963 Bundys will have the same key layout. This may be an advantage for you since you're already used to the Bundy finger board.
The Conns are often preferred over the Bueschers though I don't know why. I've played them both and would be hard pressed to choose one over the other. If I were to buy a vintage Buescher it would be an Aristocrat. Actually, the Aristocrats that were made right up to the sale of Buescher to Selmer in 1963 are all worthy contenders.

I bought the Conn tenor already. Turns out the Aristocrat is an alto. I may try to get it bought to replace my POS Bundy. Thanks again for all your help. :D
