Just wondering if any of you guys tried playing Taps on your saxophone. I tried it today, it's great on Alto. It would be even better on Soprano I bet. Give it a shot! :)

Since I'm quite week on trumpet, I decided I'd just use my sax to play The Last Post and Taps at a Nov 11 service last year (being on tenor, I was in the right key to just play off the trumpet music anyway), and I had quite a few people walk up to me after and say they really enjoyed having me do something a little different (then again, maybe they knew that the other option would have been the recording that the town would have used...) But I got a good response, and have been asked already to be available for the 2003 service.

I'll have to try The Last Post as well. I might work on it tonight.

Yeah, my partner and i do Taps and Lp as a Trumpet/alto duet. Seems to work pretty well.

Where can I find the sheet music to Taps? I do think it would sound great on Tenor Sax.

Thanks for any response. :)

It shouldnt be too hard to get a rough score off the web. We may have even grabbed the midi and shoved it through Encore shhh.... :). The basic melody is pretty simple, its D's G's and B i think. Cheers MC

Being that they are bugle tunes, they're all pretty much just a major triad.

Martinc;

The music for TAPS can be obtained at the following site:
http://www.tapsbugler.com. It really is haunting on tenor at dusk.

It's a great way to practice your overtones on sax too
