Just wondering what you guys thought of Rico grand concert selects. I came across(box of 10) them on ebay for only 2.50$. How would you compare them to rico alto or vandoran alro in strengh. What about sound?
Thank you

Hey for that price, you could could use them to shim the door if they don't work out as sax reeds.

I've found w/ Rico GCS:
Similar in sound to Vandoren traditionals.
However, a little bit weaker in strength.

I used to play the 2.5 ones and liked them very much. When I changed to a different set up and needed a harder reed, I didn't find the Rico GCS were as good as Vandoren or Alexander Classique in 3.0 and 3.5, they just seemed stuffy. Otherwise, yes they are in the same ball-park as Vandoren Trad.

I really didn't like the box of ten I bought a year ago from WWBW. None of them seemed to have the response or tone quality that I got from the Alexander Superials. I also gave them some time, and picked them up later, and they still lacked what I wanted. It could've been a really bad box or a strength problem, but as long as Vandoren and Alexander are in the market, I'll keep away.
