I just picked up a Morgan 7L. I'm wondering what's worked for other players.

I'm guessing tenor.

I mainly play a 7L and lately have been playing Rico's and Rico Royals. Sometimes I'll play ZZ's. Before my recent return to cane on tenor pieces I play fibracells.

I believe that the tip profile was based around the Alexander's reeds which are like the Vandoren's.

I find these like something between a 2 1/2 and a 3. I've been using V16 2 1/2 or Superial 3.

I use Java 2.5 on a 5L. My understanding is that Morgan mpc's were designed with Superial and Java in mind.

I switched from rico royals to rico jazz selects on my morgan 6M tenor mpc, they definately took it up a notch as far as the sound and response goes, they seem a little brighter but have more core to the sound, it can be hard to describe, but the sound they produce just fits my ear better or as "some say" the sound I have in my head.

I heard something along the lines of bmsj. Ralph likes Java and Alexender Superial reeds and dislikes V16s. But if anyone out there likes V16s on a Morgan, then by all means keep using them!

my 7L has been slightly modified by mojo, to .098 from .095, but i'm using brancher jazz 3 1/2. with good results. it's a little on the bright side.
