Well I heard about all the great things about the shop, so I ordered some reeds. About 5 boxes of alto ZZ #3.
Well I got the package and there were THREE boxes of SOPRANO reeds. So I call them and they apologize, and tell me they'll ship out the right stuff quickly. And that they want me to ship back the soprano reeds. Annoying, but not unreasonable. They said it'd be there in 4 days.
Over a week later the reeds finally arrive. I expected a little better from the shop considering all the amazing praise its gotten on the forum. Ah well, I'll stick with the other shop. Nice people on the phone though.

It may not be their fault. The mail moves kind of slow from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas.
I'm gonna combine this with the other Scimonetti thread in a bit. We're really trying to cut down on the multiple threads for the same company. we don't really want another WWBW subforum if we can help it.

I too have experienced some shipping errors with Scimonetti's, but I have also experienced similar errors with other shops and individuals. A simple phone call or e-mail with Jim Scimonetti always solved the problem for me.
Everyone makes mistakes . . . it was so innocous that I wouldn't even think of posting something negative about those businesses over a simple shipping error. DAVE

I just ordered a new LA Sax curved soprano, LA-660, from Scimonetti's earlier today and they've already shipped it and it's due to be delivered tomorrow. I think that's a new record for me on the receiving end of an eBay transaction. What more could you ask for: buy it today, get it tomorrow. Jimmy sent an email with the UPS tracking number within a couple of hours of my making payment. Needless to say, I'm a happy Scimonetti's customer.

I had purchased a bari and it came, had the Scimonetti neck ring system on it. At first I didn't care for it on that horn but after calling Jim Scimonetti and finding out how to adjust it etc. plus Jim Scimonetti, at his own expense sent me extra fittings for it, showed me how great a dealer he is and I look ahead to having future dealings with him.

What is the neck ring system?
What is the neck ring system?
It's what my Grandmother threatened when I was bad. :D

What is the neck ring system? It's probably the corkless neck system as shown on Scimonetti website (http://www.scimonetti.com/corkless.html).

Rob: Anxiously awaiting your report about the curvy.
The "neck ring (not wring) system" is a series of rubber O-rings on the neck replacing a cork for the mouthpiece. I've seen it in person. DAVE

Right, Dave. The link I posted above takes you to Scimonetti's website page describing the ring system. I haven't tried it yet, so don't have a clue how it works. I'll be sure to post my impressions of the LA Sax curvy later this evening. UPS status shows it Out for Delivery! I'm waiting for Bach to call me any minute with the good news.
It would be tempting to take off work early to go check it out, but my company's having their annual Christmas party today with potluck luncheon and gift exchange and all that stuff, so I have to be patient and wait until later.
