After months of reed hell I picked up a box of regular Ricos and found three out of ten that I could work up to use on my recital Sunday. Go figure. The notes are popping on the Parker heads and I'm not ghosting stuff I don't mean to ghost. Hazaaa....!

I think it was "Happiness is a #3 Rico".

Zen Ben is quiet right. It was a Gordon quote which he said in "Round Midnight". The thing with the #3 Rico was that he quarreld amoung with his manager who didn't want him( the person Gordon acted) to buy a Rico #3 because Bean plays a different reed.

Do they last though? That's always been my problem with Rico and Rico Royal, some of them sound great for the first 10-20 minutes, then they die, leaving me with a soggy, unresponsive strip of wood strapped to my mouthpiece.

I've been playing one for about four days now and it seems pretty stable to me. I'm really happy with my setup at the moment.
