I seem to recall from the old forum that Dr. G was awaiting a Hite Artist soprano mpc. Dr. G, did you receive this mpc yet?

Hmmm, don't know how old that post was. Sorry to not respond sooner.

Bottom line on my sop mouthpiece: It's a Jon Van Wie-refaced Bari (old model, no band) opened to .068". It is the most satisfying sop mouthpiece I've owned. Of all the mouthpieces I've gone through in the last 20 years <shudder>, this is IT. I don't even think about replacing it.

I do still have a Hite Artist in my tenor mouthpiece stable - refaced by Jon Van Wie to .110". It plays a little bright for me and has been replaced by a JVW/Morgan on my Ref 36. The other tenor player in the Santa Fe Great Big Jazz Band bought my backup JVW/Hite to replace his Dukoff and sounds great.

Thanks, Doc. I had posted that a while back, while considering a Hite for soprano. I'm still diggin' my Hite tenor mpc, though. It's everything I need.

hi mike r. i have a hite for sop.its pretty dark but very easy playing(like all hites) i use it for legit playing only.toodark for anything else.but i like very bright mpcs generally. i would recommend it over other mpcs like selmer s80 and metal selmer . very easy on the chops
