What can you tell me about Kohlert?

I'm looking into buying an old (not that there's any other kind) Kohlert deLuxe alto sax. Serial number is 629xx. I read on the website that pointed me here that the quality of the finish significantly diminished after 1959, and the serial number points to this horn coming from 1959. What i'm worried about is tone quality. Can anybody tell me how good this "professional model" horn sounds and if it is worth it purchase one for under 600 dollars.

I played a few Kohlerts made in the late 50s and as I remember (it was more than 40 years ago), they were just average horns. $600 may be a bit high unless it is in great working order. The ones I played were not very vibrant but intonation was OK and workmanship was good. These were the German ones not to be confused with the old Czech horns or the current junk from China.
