View Full Version : Brief Note
If'n you want folks to take pot shots as to the value of your horn, please post here.
I have my "SML Value Page" about 50% done and will post it here in a bit. It's essentially a record of the past year or so of SML sales on eBay and other vintage websites.

Hi, Here's some ideas on SML values as I've sold my selmers and now play SML.
Got $6000 for my ugly '56 mk vi (645XX) tenor that paid for most of my SML's!
Tenor rev D 1957 (147XX) $2300 with about 80% orig lac, new pads, no damage
Tenor gold medal I 1965 (191XX) $2800 98% orig lac, 99% nickel plated keys, new pads, no damage
Alto rev D 1956 (132XX) $1700 with 98% orig lac, new pads, one dent removed from bow
Soprano King Marigaux 1980 (262XX) $1300 with 95% orig lac, good pads, custom front hi f key and strap loop
There was recently a gold plated rev d tenor on ebay that went for $2700 that was in nice shape-I didn't get it.
Couple of other notes: necks are interchangeable on the two tenors but at the mouthpiece end the GM has a smaller diam, bell on the gold medal is NOT the same as the bell on the rev D, the GM has a 1/4" larger diam on the flare, and the bottom bow looks to be slightly different too-not sure how/where to measure.
One of these days I'll get a decent digital camera and send some pics.
Thanks for all the work on the sax pics site!
Best regards,

Hi
I'd like you to value this tenor, it's almoust with it's original lacquering. There is some marks of chafes on the bell, on around 5centimeter area...
I need to add pictures tomorrow, but please answer as soon as possible
