Hey guys!
I’m a new repair tech from eastern PA, and I wanted to tell you about my new 6m. A friend of my got a hold of it a few years ago, but never played it because the horn was in Poor, Poor, Poor condition! Dents all over the place, moldy pads, the lacquer was all rubbed off with steel wool so the finish was all green, and all the keys were rusted and frozen stiff! The spatula for the high E key was even broken off!! He sold me the horn for cheap, and I immediately when to work! But anyway, I had the keys sent out to our chemical guy to relacquer all the keys, just the keys! Meanwhile, I smoothed out the shoddy steel wool job that was done to it and did all the body work in shop. I re-padded, re-oiled, and now I’m pretty much back together again! (Still need to fix the high E spatula) But anyway, this horn looks SWEET! It’s an old 1935 horn with a modern look! Hee hee, I feel like MTV's Pimp my ride! I don’t know if there’s ANYONE out there that has a 6m that looks like mine! This kind of work would cost someone hundreds of dollars!! But anyway, I’ve been working on this thing for the past month and I should finally get it all done by sometime next week! (all my customer repairs kind of slow me down, haha… ) I can’t wait to finally hear this old lady brought back to life! :D
