i just recently got runyon custom #7 for my tenor and have switched from a c*. i was wondering if it was normal to have trouble playing low notes and having to blow harder. i am playing on 2 1/2. i was guessing i was having trouble playing low nitoes and runiy out if air early because it was such a big change in mouthpeices.

The C* has a tip opening of about .071". The Runyon 7 about .090". A change of about .010" is a typical "step" on tenor. So you are trying to get used to a 2 step change. You may need to drop down to a #2 reed for a while.
