28M Plastic or Metal?

There was a 28M on ebay for a few hours which became "no longer available for sale" that was reported to be made in 1949 BUT it had the metal rug beater. Were there that many from the factory that had the wire rather than the plastic? Mine is plastic but I would like to fit a metal one for everyday use. It appeared to be similar to a common 6M.

i had one that a wire keyguard, it was a navy horn and looked nothing like a 6 M, this wrapped around the outside of left side of the bell, and was similar appearance wise to the low C and e-flat keyguards. it had a different mounting pattern than the plastic one on another 28M i had.

if the guard looked liked it was from a 6M, there is a very good chance that it was from a 6m.
