Hi guys,
First, in the way of introduction, I lurk on this board from time to time though I am not a regular reader. I played sax in high school and I'm trying to get back into it (I'm 27 now). I also recently started playing around with using my computer to make music with ACID (http://www.sonicfoundry.com/products/acidfamily.asp). Anyway, to get to the point... There is a remix contest at ACIDplanet for 5 old smooth jazz tunes that I thought some of you might be interested in. They are:
Bob James & David Sanborn - Maputa
George Benson - Breezin'
Michael Franks - Popsicle Toes
Joe Sample - Spellbound
Al Jarreau - We're In This Love Together
The site provides loops made from the ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES of these songs to use in your own remix. Now, there are of course copyright issues regarding the use of these loops, so be sure to read the contest rules. Anyway, I thought there might be some interest in this since it will give those of you who use computer sequencing software the chance to play along with Sanborn.
Oh, and the contest link is here (http://www.acidplanet.com/contests/oldkool/).
Take it easy,
Brandon
