Today my two boxes of #4 Rico Plasticovers came in. They really do play right out of the box! I was surprised that although the reeds are hard, #4, they still play very well, great projection, pretty bright, and loud. They played so well, in fact, that I was tempted to chuck my RJS reeds out the window. Anyone else had fell this way about Plasticovers?

I play Plasticovers too. They do seem to play out of the box. But, they also can die pretty quick and go soft.
I've found it's best (for me) to order a 1/2 strength stronger and plan on a short break in for them to soften slightly. Then I can play them much longer.

Saxmanglen, thanks. I'll try that.

They seem to be warping already. Is it supposed to warp so soon?:? I don't have tenor sax reed holder yet, is there anyway that I can keep my reeds from warping without a reedguard?

hmmm, some plasticovers I have came in a clear plastic reedguard, others (older I think) were in black cardboard sleeves.. either of those should work.

Mine came in the black cardboard sleeve. It might just be a fluke that one of the reeds warped so quickly.
