Hi all,
I heard a lot of good things about the lamberson pieces here.
The lamberson M is often discussed but I found quite nothing about the SB alto piece.
I hesitated between trying a M or SB and Fred told me that the SB piece is his personnal favorite on alto.
Did anyone here tried the SB ? I'd be very interrested in a comparison between the M and SB.

SB=Short baffle.

The baffle is shorter and leads to a nice ( CLEAN) tip.

There is no other alto mouthpiece made today..that is this unique.
SB is in a class by itself.

Between this mouthpiece and the Fmaj7 Fred Lamberson has gone beyond
the norm, of just reproducing something from the past, and brought a fresh
new idea into our present day.

I've had a 5M and still have a 6M which are excellent, but did not care for the 6SB. The low notes were rough and it tended to close up in the high end. When I tried harder reeds it got harsh. I would like to try a 7SB though. If anyone out there blows an SB on alto, what size is it and what reeds do you use?

One caveat is that I bought the mpc used, so perhaps it was tinkered with.

The 7SB for bari is a very nice piece.
