I've played a sax on and off for years, but only as a side hobby. I'm looking to get serious with it and am planning to purchase an 82Z Silver. After reading and researching, I've decided that the Beechler Metal is the mouthpiece for me. However, mouthpieces in general are all new to me. I'm reading that the bigger the opening the better the sound, but the harder to play. Am I correct? I'm a professional musician (although not a professional sax player) and I'm very picky about tone and quality in any instrument. I don't mind to work at something if it will produce the sound I want. Mostly I will be playing country, jazz, and blues. I want a rich sound, deep but not dull, bright but not teny. Any advice on mouthpieces, sizes, and reed sizes? Thanks so much!
