My son is ready for a step up horn, and to keep him away from my MarkVI, I'm looking into a Yamaha Tenor for him. There are quite a few YTS-52's out there used for $1000 give or take. A new YTS475 is about $1600. Anybody have specific experience comparing the two models? He is using a JodyJazz HR* 7 right now on my Sixer and would expect to keep the same mpc. Thanks for the help.:)

I would go for the used 52 or better yet 62. If he is in for the long haul then get the better horn. You can stay with these longer. Mike

Oh, Boy -
Got the young fella a new 62 II - he absolutely loves it! Plays very well in tune and has a flexible sound - plays warm or bright depending on mpc. Hope this will get him through HS.

I have been saying this about 62s (original and IIs) for a long time.
Hope this will get him through HS.
It should get him through life! I wish him luck.
