Hi

I'm wondering whats the deal with the shotblast Z? The only info I can gather on it is a different finish. Is this Yamaha's answer to the Selmer's hummingbird?

any info would be appreciated

linky if you havent seen it either

It sounds like this is a sort of matte finish, produced by "blasting" the body (and keys?) of the sax with tiny beads, or "shot." Something like sandblasting, but with bigger sand.

However this is just a guess, but if I had to bet, that would be where I put my money.

usahorn has a pic of a matte YAS-62....I am guessing its probably similar. Kinda steep markup for a blasted finish, unless they are doing something else for the horn (like gold-plated neck or something).
