For those with Lambersons, which 2-screw lig works best?

I like Bonade (alto size) on my alto (SB) and tenor (DD) pieces.

Bari Gordon -
Are you saying that you use the alto size Bonade on your tenor DD?

Yes. The Lamberson hr tenor SB and DD models are slim enough to use alto ligatures. (J models are fat like other hr tenor mouthpieces)
My problem (and others have noted it) is finding a ligature for my bari Lamberson mouthpiece. HR tenor ligs are just a little too small. The bari pieces are not all the same width. I have a DD that is just a bit bigger than my Fmaj7 (marked 7DD). Other SOTW'ers have had success with the Vandoren inverted (too small for either of mine) or the FL tenor XL (I haven't tried it)

On my Lamberson Bari pieces I use a Medium TENOR Bay Lig and it's a perfect fit and plays great.
On Lamberson DD and SB tenor Large ALTO Bay Ligs fit perfect.
On Lamberson L Tenor Medium TENOR Bay Lig
On Lamberson M alto pieces ( and DD and SB) Large ALTO Bay ligs
On Lamberson Sop Medium SOPRANO Bay Lig.
I recommend a patch UNDER the lig 'cause they are a little scratchy.

I appreciate your responses. I picked up a 2-screw nickel Bay lig that fits the DD, but I'm having trouble finding a cap that works with the 2-screw lig. What do you use?

On the DD tenor the cheapo plastic cap that Fred supplies with his pieces is a decent fit. I think the caps Bay use are Runyon. They're like a decent quality grainy plastic that come with their bass clarinet ligs. look at the BG caps. I think you can order these seperately. I have one for my Lamberson alto and it's good.

Yeah, it fits...kinda. It's too short for a tenor mouthpiece. It looks like an alto cap. I want a cap that really fits.

I had the same problem with the plastic cap that Fred supplied (too short and ruined the tips of a couple of reeds). I rooted around in my junk box and came up with a Link cap that fit. I put a piece of one of those perforated band-aids on the top, because the breather hole is too big and lets the reed dry out too quick. The brass lig that Fred supplied works fine.

Mango, is that a Link cap for metal or hard rubber mouthpiece?

I guess with the slim DD it will be the metal.. a berg plastic or metal for the stainless tenor should fit. I don't use metal caps myself anymore on rubber in case I slice the tip. Weiners sent me a load of caps when I got the Bays . They were cheap too.

Francois Louis ligs work marvelously on my tenor and soprano Lamberson mouthpieces.

has anyone tried a Vandoren Optimum on a Lamberson J for tenor?

The Optimum works well on my 2 J and my L, but I prefer FL ligs, especially on the SB and DD.

Thanks, McTenor. I kind of have a love affair with the Optimum going on right now. I suppose I should try an FL just because of everyone's raving. I'll get around to it, i'm sure. There's nowhere to try such things around here, so I have to drum up the dough to spend on the experiment. Right now I'm saving for a Lamberson J.
