The palm key notes on my Tru-tone alto are very sharp. If I pull the mouthpiece out, the notes play in tune but the lower notes become ~20 cents fllat. Does anyone else have this issue with Tru-tones? I like the tone of the horn very much-if I can fix this problem, it will be perfect.

I had this problem with my Cannonball alto. It's a pretty simple fix - just put a crescent cork in your D tone hole. I think you can find an article about how to do this on musicmedic.com

Good luck.

you might want to take a look at your key heights for the palm keys.

For another approach that involves inserting a small liner in the neck, check out the post by ToreH here:

Paulwl apparently has posted about this also but I don't have the link for that. Paul, do you have it handy?

All my t/tones are in tune (alto, tenor and bari). They have superb intonation. Check your key heights.

My true tone alto neck is a number 1. The tone hole gap from bottom of pad to tone hole rim on the widest parts range from 8.5 mm left hand to around 9 mm r/hand stack

My TT alto's neck has no markings on it. The horn dates to early 1920's. DAVE

Dave, thank you very, very, very much!!!

I guess you're talking about your alto. I would like to know in what specific keys do you have that measures. For example: B and F keys or the common left hand key and the common right hand key.

I also would like to know your TT tenor key heights. I've listed my TT tenor key heights in another thread, here I list them again:

Common left stack key: 5.0mm
B key: 5.6mm
Bb key: 6.0mm
A key: 6.3mm
G key: 6.8mm

Common Right Hand stack key: 7.2mm
F key: 8.0mm
E key: 9.0mm
D key: 10.5mm

Luis Pablo
