I found this new ad today on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2532669799&category=30 8
It looks strangely similar to this one listed by Charles Fail last week:

Smells like Indonesian fraud.
Seller's name "paseerputih" translates as "White Beach" in Bahasa Indonesia.
Seller prefers a money transfer. Typical M.O.
My curiosity got the best of me. I asked him for more pics as well as the serial number and would he accept escrow here's the reply:
Dear Jhon,
Thanks for looking my auction,
The serial number is H32770,Its available near the hole sounds. Please take a look.. before I answer your question,I wanna tell you about the payment. I'm only accept escrow if you could pay it above GBP 950. But if you offer under GBP 950,I only accept wire transfer. Let me know your offer and your decision. If you serious to buy my item, I'll ended for you.And please let me know your exactly location.
I'm glad to hear from you soon..
kind regards,
Sinta

No offense meant towards our non USA or Great Britian posters but wouldn't you think someone from England would have a greater command of the English language?

Re command of English (or ingris, as they say):
This seller is definitely Indonesian.
"Jhon" is the common spelling for John in Indonesia. And "Sinta" ironically means "saint", which comes from the Dutch "sinter", as Indonesia was a Dutch colony for hundreds of years before "merdeka" (freedom -- for those of you who have been following these threads) in 1954.
Regards, Charlie (who lived in Indonesia for 5 years)

Hmm... it would take a special person to buy from an ebay-er with 0 sales to date. :P

Very true, Gandy. If you make a purchase from a seller with 0 feedback, and get burned, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Dear all. Thanks for everyone who gave me the heads up on this. I tried to get as much info as I could out of this guy. This is his response to me going to pick up the sax as i only live a few miles away. All your thoughts I are correct.
here is his reply in full. (of BullS***)
Thanks for looking and bid my auctions.
Unfortunelly,I can't show you the Sax,cause I just arrives in Indonesian
a few hours ago.I'm here (in Indonesia)for shows in a pub for three weeks.
I'm sorry to tell you late. And the problem is I was brough the sax too.
I lived in Basildon,Essex.I only could meet you after my contract ended.
Is it too long,I think..Is it possible to you to make a wire transfer to my
Indonesian manager?
If this is acceptable,Please bid the auctions for GBP 750 and I'll ended the
auction for you.

And here's the reply from ebay. They obviously couldn't care less about the fraud.
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us with this information. I
understand how this situation could be of some concern.
I have reviewed the information that you have sent in regarding the
auction and at this point find that I do not have enough evidence to
show that the member has violated any eBay rules.
Thank you for helping to keep ebay a safe place to trade.
Best wishes,
Raven Ross

To which I replied:
I sent you the original ad for the auction by the real owner, Charles Fail
Music. If you cared about fraud on your site, you could have contacted him.
Obviously you don't care as long as everyone pays their listing fees. What
a joke.

Did anyone try to contact the winner of the Fail auction?
Morry
05-23-2003, 01:16 PM
The Fail auction didn't meet reserve.

I emailed the sole bidder yesterday evening to draw his/her attention to this thread and suggest s/he may like to retract - hasn't yet and only five hours to go....
Anybody else tried to contact him/her?

Guess what? Even though reserve was not met, this is what the 'seller' mailed the high bidder (he forwarded it to me):

Could we make a arrangement for payment an shipping..?
Mail me soon..
Kind Regards

giosax
I pointed all the bidders to this thread, so with luck he won't get away with it.

Well, all I can say is that it's good we look out for each other, because ebay couldn't possibly care less.
