hey, what's up? I'm a percussionist but switched to alto sax recently. I want to know the differences between alto and tenor. And what are all the kinds of saxophones in order from highest to lowest sound? :) thanx for all your help!

I'm sure someone else will end up editing this order of instruments (and I'll probably miss some) -- but here goes:

HIGHEST - LOWEST

Saprillo
Sopranino
Soprano
Alto
Tenor
Bari
Bass
Contra-Bass

The ones most often used are Alto & Tenor, third is Bari, and fourth is Soprano. And I highly suggest playing tenor! ;)
