īDouble Image` is the name of this new released CD I bought today. He is one of my favourites and I`m very happy that these 78 recordings are now available. What is your opinion of this marvellous player ??
Thank you...

On the Ocium label from Spain!
Fantastic label for the classics. I love the Flip Phillips dates, and I noticed an enticing Charlie Barnet release.

LUVV Georgie Auld. (Tim, help me out here!)
What a Giant. All praises due in full.
How're "Tenderly" and "Early Autumn" ???

Looks like another must have.

Probably the most famous Super 20 player of all.

Tenderly and Early Autumn are just great. The last ten titles of this new CD are from 1951/52 and are just ballads. What a sound and feeling. I really like his Swing to Bop approach.

In this forum you always ( when you want to get a discussion ) have to put your MP knowledge into this topic. But I still don`t know if anyone knows this guy. Buy records...........!!!

Tim Price posted a personal, in-depth account of his encounter with Georgie several months ago. I was hoping to lure him back for more. And yes, he mentioned horn models and setups. But come on, Georgie Auld would sound like 'Georgie Auld' on any setup. It's in the mind: concept, tone, etc.

Agreed, PB: it's about the MUSIC.
Let's not lose the focus.

Check out www.wkcr.org ... it's a Henry Grimes tribute THROUGH Sunday night! Currently playing all extant recordings of the Rollins/Cherry/Grimes/Higgins '63 tour.
DEEP MUSIC !!!
