I have an old silver plated curved soprano I can't seem to find any information about. The neck is non detachable, the bell keys are split, the engraving says "Weymann /Keystone State/Philadelphia/PA." over a flower. SN 4403. Goldwash inside the bell. Nice little horn, I've seen similar bueschers. Anybody know if Buescher or anyone else made WEYMANN stencils? Thanks.

Some clues:
If it has a Y-shaped key cage over low C, and a serial number of the format "S / xxxx / L", it's a Conn.
If it has a little "chicken comb" with 2 notches in it as the bottom bow guard, and "LOW PITCH" below the s/n, it's a Buescher.
If it has beveled toneholes (edge angled in) and they're soldered on, it's a Martin.
If it has conical, clarinet-type key cups, it's a King (not likely).
If it's stamped "L P", it's a Holton (again not likely).

Hey thanks for the tips.. unfortunately my horn doesn't have any of those characteristics. No key cages at all, oddly enough. And, forgive my ignorance, what is a bow guard? and a 'chicken comb'? Toneholes are straight, not rolled, not soldered on. The serial number is simply 4403. nothing else around it.

I have one and the same problem. Would you like to part with yours?

Hello
I've a very good Weymann Keystone alto Sax into my saxophone collection. My Wey. is a Martin stencil, it's the same of Martin Handcraft Imperial model made around 1927/1930.
I believe Weymann was a great shop in USA and they sold instruments, too.
I seen A Weymann tenor Conn stencil and a Weymann guitar in the past.
Sorry for my horrible English
