When signing in, my username is remembered but my password isn't[I have to type it in everytime.]. Is this the mo of how this board works, or is it just me?
[I know that both are remembered on another vBulletin that I visit.]
Thanks.

Do you have cookies enabled?
That might be part of the problem, if they aren't.
Also, it could be that IE just doesn't like you and wants to make it inconvenient for you to come here.
I vote for the cookies thing.
Make sure you've clicked on the "Log me in Automagically" box. Don't log off. It's not terribly necessary.

Well, with IE, you never know.

I've looked all over the place in USER CP, no 'enable cookies' was found. Is ec something I do on my computer, like in the control panel? If so, where 'bouts might that be found? And I have the 'Remember me' box checked.
Thanks in advance. [I'm using MSN9, an extension of IE. I tried to use Firefox but couldn't figure out how to import favorites, even using that Buddy helper.]
I don't mind entering the username each time, just seems like an unnecessary hassle if I can get the memory to work.
I'm *assuming* it's the same as IE; I consider MSN stuff bloatware, so I don't have it installed :D.
* Tools Menu > Internet Options
* Advanced Tab. Press the "Restore Defaults" button.
* Content Tab. Make sure the Content Advisor isn't on.
* Privacy Tab. Set the slider to "Medium" or click the "Default" button.
* Security Tab. Click on each of the thingys and click on "Default Level".
Click Apply. Click OK. Restart IE. That should make sure the cookies are workening properly. You might want to go to the General Tab and click on the Delete Cookies and Delete Files buttons to "start from scratch", as it were.
The "Log Me on Automatically" checkbox is seen when you first connect to http://forum.saxontheweb.net. I have noticed problems, in the past, if you go to http://saxontheweb.net/vbulletin and click the checkbox there, but create a bookmark for http://forum.saxontheweb.net.

Yes, I remembered and went to "Advanced" in Internet Options. There were no boxes for enable and disable cookies. [I remember that I had that option on my old computer.] I didn't know about "Content Advisor," it's off anyhow. I might click the "Default Level" and see what happens, but I'm kinda skeered because my computer is running OK except for SOTW's remembering my password, the box is checked.....I'll have to contemplate on it some. Thanks.
BTW, MSN9(or 8) is built on IE somehow. IE is the base for MSN. Matter of fact I almost got into some deep doodoo. I was about to remove IE because I thought that I wouldn't need both MSN and IE, and somebody told me if I did that I'd loose MSN9 too. I've since heard the same from other sources.
You can't really remove IE from a Windows-based PC without using some sort of 3rd-party program: IE is integrated into the operating system.
If you go to add/remove programs and remove IE, either you're just removing it from the desktop or you're restoring the version of IE that was originally installed on your computer.
You can, however, remove MSN easily enough. Unfortunately, some folks do get hooked on the MSN browser's features, which may (that's for you, Gandalfe) actually be better implemented in other browsers.
If I could get an application to JUST download and install stuff from windowsupdate.microsoft.com, I'd remove IE completely.
Anyhow, there's nothing stopping you from going to www.mozilla.org and getting Firefox :).

Good point.
Firefox is just like IE, except that it wasn't imbued with a deathwish against the end user.
And it's open source.
You can import your Favorites as well as Passwords etc from IE to Mozilla Firefox by clicking in Firefox
- File Menu
then
- Import
"Import Settings and Data from"
choose "Microsoft Internet Explorer"
then
- Next
then
- Select the items you want to import
then
- Next
and there you go.

You're correct and I did. 'Cept the favs that I use are on MSN9, not IE. In order to import favs from FireFox to MSN9 you need to download Buddy 'import-helper', which I did. I got the favs(from MSN) to the Buddy import helper, but because I didn't understand the lingo, I couldn't get them into FireFox. So, I removed FF and Buddy and said the heck with it.
Anyhow, I don't log out of SOTW, so problem "solved." :)
