I'm currently borrowing it from school... I'm 37 and trying to get back into playing after 20+ years.. I haven't had much luck finding out anything about this horn anywhere online... Anyone here have any experience with this model? S/N 228509, black lacquer with gold keys. Says "LA SAX USA" on an emblem attached to the bell. Thanks for any info!

Parts are made in the far east. Taiwan I think. Pretty sure they're assembled in USA. The early ones were not too highly thought of, those made in the late 80s and into the 90s. They've improved since then but still not up to par with the best manufacturers. (Selmer, Keilwerth, Yamaha & Yanagisawa)
I last played one about 2 years ago. It played pretty well but I wasn't totally comfortable with the key layout and the sound quality seemed to lack the resonance of the above mentioned manufacturers.
Their web site is: http://lasax.com/
If you're looking for a good horn that's not too expensive chech out Cannonball. http://www.cannonballmusic.com/
Also sourced from Taiwan but they're getting a very good reception here in the US.
