Ok...
I currently own a Buffet SDA Alto, Evette Shaeffer Alto, YAS-23 Alto, and a Jupiter 869SG Alto, and a Conn Stencil Tenor (Vintage)
I love every single one of these horns, and wouldn't part with them for the world.
I have been plagued by curiousity of Kessler Music's Kessler Custom Alto/Tenor..
Is a Kessler Custom on par with any of the horns I currently own? I have never played one, and can only go by the posts in this forum..
I am seriously considering purchasing one, and more than likely will, and have read much of the feedback on here, but how does it compare?

SaxAttack,
I'm sorry that no one has responded to your question by now. I have not played anything that you already own, so I cannot compare. I had a 1920's Conn Chu alto that I traded off a while back, and to me the sound was much better, but of course, not the keywork, and I wanted a horn with good keywork for my son to learn on. It is a good solid horn that plays well and sounds decent. Beyond that, it appears that with four horns you see yourself as somewhat of a collector, and I'm not sure a store branded taiwanese horn falls into what I would call a collectors item. If you didn't have something that already played well, I would say to go for it. If you just want another sax for your collection, go for anther vintage horn that you can have some confidence you will get most of your money back out of later if need be. Or better yet, sell all your horns and get a Ref 54. Of course, if you have money to blow just to satisfy your curiosity, there are quite a few other horns out there I'd be curious about. Good luck and let us know if you decide to get one.

I appreciate your reply... Just so happens I was checking to see if anyone actually replied..
Today I will be ordering this Horn in Tenor, and see what happens.
I am just looking for a good quality instrument at a great price. Not so much about brand, just quality.
EDIT!!!
ORDERED!! With tone booster, and no OL7Pro, due to not in stock at the moment.
So we shall see :)

UPDATE :
Received Kessler Horn....
Verdict:
LOVE IT!!!!
I ordered a Kessler Custom Tenor in plain old fashioned lacquer, and this horn rocks.
This horn is pretty dead on, and sounds great. I actually think it almost sounds like my Vintage Conn Tenor. It sounds a tad bit on the tinny side of Tenors, but man I think I actually like that...
The case is awesome, couldn't have had a better case, I am truly satisfied with this case.
Thanks!

Saxattack, what do you think of the Kessler Tone Booster you got with the horn?

That's quite an eclectic collection, so I was wondering which suits your playing style best. I too have a Buffet SDA alto and like it so much I sold everything else and concentrate on it.

Honestly.. I think it makes the tone a tad bit softer, and not as edgy....
Maybe more focused? It's VERY slight, and hard to notice the difference, but there is a tiny difference.

I would have to say I like the Jupiter the best...
All my horns are in excellent playing condition, but I am partial to the Jupiter...
Thing is If the poop hit the fan the only horn I wouldn't sell would be the SDA.

Since the Jupiter suits you the best, but the last horn you would part with is the SDA, would it be fair to say that would be because of the higher resale value and/or Paris ancestry of the SDA? I've given that some thought myself, about whether to experiment like you with Taiwanese lower-priced saxes because of the modern keywork and ergo advantages available in some. I'm looking at the LA Sax GL750 alto because I like my GL850 tenor so much. But, if I got the GL750, I'd have to make a decision about what to do with the SDA, so I probably won't go there. It's all kinda mixed up, but there it is.

See I know I can get always get my money for my SDA...
Kinda like my watches my Timex's, and Citizen's work best for me, but I would never part with my Omega Collection even though im having to wind, or wear these things so they are accurate...

Would you be willing to sell it? or does it have to be custom fit to the individual neck?

Bill,
We have to custom make them to the individual neck.
