Which one of these is the best? I am playing a selmer super action series II...does it mean all the selmer mouthpeices are suitable on it?? I am playing jazz.
I find the Selmer D is a pretty flexible piece, I use it for jazz, rock, concert band, and some pop and it does all of these jobs extremely well. However, if you mainly play jazz, it might be a good idea to look at some quality jazz mouthpieces. Just because you have a Selmer doesn't mean that only Selmer mpcs work on it, Otto Links are also quite good pieces and are probably better for jazz. Meyers are also considered one of the standard jazz mpcs. So check out some of these two brands as well as Selmer, and try before you buy if you can.

I have a Selmer Soloist D which is surplus to requirements, if that is of any interest anyone. This is the real thing, a vintage piece from the 1960s and very little used. No chips, cracks or faults of any sort.
I am asking $90 including postage from UK. Please send a Personal Message if interested.

Any of the 3 would be fine but it really depends on the reed strength. I have used a D forever and find that it is a great all around piece. When going to an E, I have always found that to get the intervals to speak well, I need a reed that becomes too light for the power I want. I had a teacher that kept a C*, C** and D in the case and matched them to the reed. Not a bad idea really as sometimes the reed becomes your boss.
The price on that vintage D sounds very good. They are not as bright as the new S-80s but are really hard to find. You may want to snap that one up or MAYBE I......
