After much study and consideration from several aspects I was almost ready to make my decision on a sop to add to my assortment of instruments - trombone, trumpet, flugel horn and tenor sax. I was torn between the ultra cheap Band Now, the cheap WWBW straight with dual necks, and the Antigua 590 which I consider the ultimate. Everything else is far out of my price range. I found some intriguing comments about the Band Now and the straight WWBW sop. Some people like them both and some consider the Band Now 'good enough' to do until a 'pro' sop becomes possible - presumably after you 'make it big.'
So I was checking the various on-line places regularly (other than eBay which I just don't trust - call me an old fuddy duddy). Suddenly a price jumped out at me: $404.10 for a sax described as:
"Woodwind Soprano Saxophone with dual necks and High G, Used B Quality"
This was on the WWBW site one afternoon and had not been there a few hours before. I did a little looking because something was not right. Sure enough, I could find no mention of a WWBW 'pro' series or other type with a G key. I called WWBW and asked about it. The salesman/counsellor could not shed light on it. He did say that it was a few years old and showed a little wear but that it was in good condition. They had taken it in on trade. He emphacised that the 45 day trial period applied. I have had very good experiences with these people.
So I bought it. Anybody have any ideas what I bought? Did WWBW sell a straight with a G key in the past?
Unfortunately, WWBW has a big new warehouse and can't find anything in it so, for a little while, their shipping is only one type - "free in one to two weeks."
