Just got back from Chech republic and an old friend of mine imformed me of the death of Al. Many of you wont remember him. He had a hit record 'down on the farm 'in 1958 and was the pianist on the Wanda Jackson recordings.
My fondest memory of AL was after a gig in UK and he went off to Heathrow to fly home and he called the agent and said " i want that sax player with me when i come over next as he sounds like a cross between Lee Allen and King Curtis, i know 'cos' they were both on my records"
The agent relayed the message to me and i was gob smacked about the quote and that he bothered to phone. Not many would
