I have been thinking about playing Piano. I have a Piano . The reason why I quit playing Piano is that at the time that I have been playing for a few weeks, when I began to play chords, that's when I quit. My pinky is bent, it keeps me from stretching very far, which I know keeps me from playing the chords.(a naturual problem) it's like I just need to reach one more key and I can't really reach it. I am wondering if I still work on stretching my fingures, does it help over come my pinky problem? I know that is kinda a dumb question. And what kinda things can I do to stretch my fingures? (excersizes)

The thing I remember about the Piano, that I liked, was that, when I would practice , I start going to sleep, hearing the piano in my head, putting music together and chords together, as if I knew how to play. (like brainwaves or something) I loved hearing that sound and I'd love to get better at playing but I think that my naturual problems will keep me from getting better at practicing the piano. So if anyone has any advice, it would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My piano teacher said you could tell whether someone plays the piano or not by how far they can spread their hands, which seems to be held true so far. As you play more and more, your hands seem to adapt if you know what I mean. I am not sure what could fix your problem, but if you find your self a decent piano teacher, he/she would more than likely be able to fix it or find a way to go around that.

No i don't, that's why I'm asking. The brainwaves are just something that happends when I sleep.

Thanks for your advice about stretching my fingures. I already know that if you play the keyboard your fingures stretch, b/c then I wouldn't be asking. its what people tell you when you play the keyboard, but Iam wondering if that helps even if you have a fingure problem? I have normal fingures , except for my pinky, all I want to know if it's the same for both people? telling me that my fingures will stretch the more I play, doesn't answer my question though.

I already said it's a dumb question. Basically I just want to know if anyone else has the same problem or knows anyone else that does have the same problem. I don't know if I would still qualify as normal. Iam not gonna sit there and play and play to find out I will never reach that chord. Problems may interfere it may not, I like keyboard, but if you've never had that problem it's hard to tell if it would work out the same way like other people with all 5 normal fingures. I have 4 normal fignures and a bent pinky.

If i can't reach the chords, is that becuase of a natural problem or is that becuase I haven't practiced enough even if I do practice enough, how do you know that the practice will help and or that it's just b/c you have inferance with the fingure?

sorry just ignore this message it was a dumb question and it hit me earlier. all my fingures are bent when playing so this may not have made sence to anyone. sorry for asking such a dumb question . my pink is only a b it stiffer becuase it's naturual to be bent but as hc said the more u practice to more it would get flexible, I just did not believe it when it comes to a bent pinky and i push myself too hard exspecting more then what i exspect to achieve, and i quit really quick. well this time it wont happen that way and going to practice piano. laters. did not mean any offence by the earlier post nor meant to make this sound like Iam talking to myself. lol if you wanna give me advice u can but I think I solved my problems.

Let me clarify my randomness to my post. What I am trying to say is that we tend to adapt to our surroundings. Perhaps sitting on the piano a little each day would slowly get rid of your pinky problem just like your hands would slowly develope a larger spread over time given that you play the piano long enoughh.
