You 6M nuts may remember my occasional ramblings about the topside octave neck used in the 1930s, sometimes called the "New York" neck. No one seemed to know how it got the name. Well, it seems now that it was Conn's idea. Here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7337013488) is a very early example that apparently has "New York Model" stamped right on the neck.

This horn is numbered #254xxx (1932). I formerly owned a topside 6M numbered #2543xxA, with no stamps on the neck.

An identical 6M to the one listed above – unengraved, topside neck – was played by Johnny Hodges for several years.
