For some reason, on this site only, all of a sudden I can't see any of the graphics except for people's avatars. I can't see smileys or the icons by the posts, or the SOTW logo. Just a box with a red X in it.
I haven't changed any settings or done anything different, and it's been that way for three or four days. I'm using IE 6.0 and have no other problems. Any ideas? Help!
Thanks.

Me too!
Have you guys tried clearing your cookie cache?
This is just a thought. Try that and if the problem persist gonna have to ask what our forum techie has to say.

Let me guess....You have Norton Internet Security, right?
I started having the same issue with this site a couple of days ago. I tried to disable the Internet Security, and bam, the icons came back up. I think it has something to do with the update that Norton did earlier this week.
I don't know what to do to fix it, other than disable Norton when on this site...Something I don't want to do. I haven't frigged' around with different Norton settings to see if I can set up special rules for this site. It is weird though...this is the only site that I have the problem with...
Ok. I'm calling the forum techie for help.

The question arises: What URL do you use to access the forum?

The question arises: What URL do you use to access the forum?
Harri, I have the forum book-marked and come in directly to the forum at http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/. But I also just checked the SOTW home page, and I have the same issue there. I don't see any of the graphics, only the text.
I have not found this problem on any other website I've visited in the last few days, and at this point it seems to be specific to SOTW. Weird, huh?

Harri and Helen,
I've got the same problem and also access SOTW at same URL. I have Norton Antivirus as well. My brower may be different - Mozilla - but the result is the same, no graphics.
I'm having the same problem and I don't use Norton. I use the Armor suite from Computer Associates.
I think it's a conspiracy from Norton.
* That shouldn't happen if you use Norton Antivirus, just Norton Internet Security.
* I don't have NIS 2005 on my computer, so I can't fool around with it. There should be some way of putting www.saxontheweb.net (and, summarily, www.saxontheweb.net/forum) into a "trusted" zone.
Trust us, folks. We won't hurt your computer. Or steal your data. :D
I also wonder if y'all have parental control on and Symantec's deemed it inappropriate to look at raw pictures of sax, especially with all the talk here about Conn Naked Ladies.
Anyhow, I browsed the Symantec website. Here's a doc (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/docid/2004093010421136?Open&src=sg&docid=2001121211273436&nsf=nip.nsf&view=db7dbf37ab6d8b5085256eda0045925a&dtype=∏=Norton%20Internet%20Security&ver=2005&osv=&osv_lvl=) that describes setting up your filters properly and what to do if there are website(s) you can't access.
I'm having the same problem. I have Norton anti-virus and went into the document suggested, but don't see how to fix it there. I can access the SOTW website just fine, but don't get the icons, etc. I hope there is some solution.
Quoting myself:
* That shouldn't happen if you use Norton Antivirus, just Norton Internet Security.Yes, I know that NIS bundles Norton Antivirus, but the setting isn't in NAV, it's in the firewall.
Harri's investigating the security settings he's set for www.saxontheweb.net. Considering that this Forum is "off" that website, it's very probable that security settings there are affecting security settings here.
Someone clarify for me: we're just talking about avatars and other amusing little graphics, like the PayPal logo and Kessler's banner, right? Not the buttons for "Submit Reply", etc.?
Right, I couldn't find anything in the NIS firewalls that might affect this, but I'm not a computer whiz by any means. It affects all the graphics. The reply & edit buttons are there, but everything with a graphic is just an empty box with a red "x" in it. Still usable, but kind of frustrating.

<Fiddling with it now>
Reply buttons have red x's for the graphic.
I don't know whehter this is related to the above problems or not, but for the past few days I've had a strange problem with some of the graphics...
When I first open a page, everything is fine, but when I hit the reload/refresh button, all of the new-post-indicators, so-and-so-is-on/offline-indicators, you-have-a-post-in-this thread-indicators, edit/quote/reply buttons, etc., disappear. But then, when I hit reload again, they re-appear. (Avatars are unaffected.)
This happened last week, and I fixed it by emptying my disc cache, but that doesn't help now. I've also tried clearing all cookies, and that hasn't helped either (which is not surprising, as I've got them set to expire at the end of each session anyway). I'm using Netscape, on a Mac. Any ideas?

Hi Pete. Thanks for your thoughts. No, I don't have parental control on.
Also, the only thing I do see is the Avatars. All the rest are rest of the graphics are replaced with the box and a red "x".
By the way....I totally agree with you and the Norton conspiracy.... (I think I just put a wink there...;-)
OK. Clear your Temporary Internet Files cache and clear your cookies and try it again. Tell me if it works.

Saxpics,
Good to see you are on the job.
Emptied cache and barfed up all the old cookies.
No Joy!
Clearing temp files and cookies didn't help me either.

I experimented with the site security parameters.
Does anyone with problems see any changes now?

Glad it works, folks. Anyone still havening problems on www.saxontheweb.net?
(We've isolated the setting on the server that caused the problem. We're tweaking it.)

Just clearing my cache worked for me.
Thanks for the work you've put in, Saxpics!

Seems to have done the trick for me as well. Thanks.
