SX90II - tight neck fit?

After receiving my SX90II today I sat down to play a bit. I noticed that it was relatively easy to get the straight neck on and off the body of the saxophone, but the curved neck has a really tight fit. I am going to be playing with the curved neck only and would like to just leave it on the horn, but it won't fit in the case with the curved neck still attached. Is it normal for the neck to have such a tight fit?

If the tenon is unlacquered, you can use some crocus cloth (3M polishing paper for metal) and make just a turn or two and try it again.
