I bought Overture a couple of years ago, but it was really buggy with my Mac, and now I am in real need of something that will work on OS X, is relatively easy to use and RELIABLE!
I looked at Myriad...and it looks pretty good....but I am interested in something that will transpose to any part easily...say, if I write out a tenor sax part and I want to give it to the trombone player, then I want to be able to transpose it with a click.

Any advice? I couldn't tell whether or not the Myriad software can do that or not....

Sibelius or Finale will do the job for you.

Thanks Boot...Sybelius looks promising...but do you know about the Myriad software? Does it have the auto transpose feature?
Cost would tend to lead me to Myriad...however I want something that is VERY Mac friendly and Sybelius looks to be that way.

Sibelius is very powerful and has the auto transpose feature. It also has a great program for converting sheet music to midi called Nueraton photoscore. This works beautifully under the PC environment.

Sibelius? Does it have ANYTHING to do with Jean Sibelius?

We Finns would like to think so, but I guess the answer is no.
It is a notation software made in UK. And a pretty good one, I have been told.

Sibelius is very serious notation software, it is the best one I have found yet. It even has a hand written font.
