Would anyone ever consider buying an Amati Classic Tenor?
Just wondering? ;)

I have played a student Amati tenor and it is fine for me. So, if the price is right (i.e. for a budget consious player) then play it honestly and see if you like it. At the end of the day, I am not aiming to be a professional saxman.
Just my thoughts.
Cheers!

You can get Amati Classic tenors at bargain basement prices, and the brand new one I had looked good and played okay. It just wasn't at the higher quality standards I've come to appreciate and require for my needs. I'm not a Selmer-only snob, but I've found vintage Martins, for example, and other new tenors with a more solid ergonomic feel and more robust and colorful tones than the Amati Classic, and they are worth the extra dollars it takes to get them. And, in some cases, it doesn't take that many extra dollars to do that.
In brief, I wasn't as satisfied with the Amati Classic tenor as I have been with others not much more expensive.

If you're looking at a new Amati Classic for the unbelievable price of $425 that someone on line is selling these horns for lately - then its hard to imagine anything else coming close.
