I recently went to a Bobby Vinton concert. What a wonderful senior performer!! He was a favorite singer of mine, long forgotten. Much to my surprise he not only sings, but plays several instruments with excellence! His infamous talent is the alto sax, that he played professionally since age 15 (starting out in his father's "BIG BAND").

He went on to lead his own band and did studio back up, for groups of the 60's.
Well, I purchased an album, featuring his early Instrumental hits ("INSTRUMENTAL SOUNDS OF LOVE BOBBY VINTON On Saxophone). Originally recorded on EPIC LP record. This includes the following:

Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head
Call Me
I Will Wait For You
Michelle
Sweet Maria
A Taste Of Honey
I'll Never Fall In Love Again
Somewhere, My Love
Heartaches
Now I Know
Oh Lonesome Me

This is a masterpiece in great alto sax playing. A great album to buy......... Bobby Vinton is over 65 now, but still plays a mean alto sax and uses no strap, he wheels the sax as if it were a trumpet!!

Please stop! You're killin' me. What's next, a Barbara Mandrell sax review?

Amalfitano, you're killin me, in a good way. Welcome aboard. As you'll see, the posting style around here is sort of "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything". However, your last few posts have had me laughing to the point of tears, kind of an uncensored version of what I'm thinking. Nice to hear from someone who calls them as they see them.

Amen to that!!

I'd much rather read something true than something nice...

Not to mention funny as hell!

It's just that there are so many great sax players out there and so many guys that a young player could pattern him/herself after. I'd hate to think of a generation of Ace Cannon wannabees out there. That's sort of like an aspiring opera singer patterning himself after Jerry Lewis.
