I know some of the posters here play in the Baltimore Ravens Marching Band, which has ties way back to the old Baltimore Colts Marching Band. It's been announced that M & T Bank has not only bought the Ravens Stadium naming rights, but they're renaming the marching band the "M & T Bank Marching Ravens".

What a letdown for a fine group and for all the fans.

!!!!!!!

Why do you keep digging?

You know what they say...

People who dig too deep may find their own bones.

*evil demented laugh until choking on own laughter starts, then stops (completely ungrammatical)*

Not really. I'm pretty sure they just announce them as "your Baltimore Marching Ravens", but they might slip M&T Bank into it as it's still the name of the stadium. Will be at the game tomorrow and I'll keep an ear out for how they're introduced.

Please don't make me drink. It's not even 8am yet and I don't deal well with life at this hour.

That too, but it didn't go with the video I wanted to post.

BTW, I LOVE seeing these old posts getting the love they deserve.

I was never a Colts fan growing up, but after moving in to Baltimore City as a student just a couple years after they left town, I certainly felt their pain. Having lived, worked and gone to school in Baltimore, I figured if they ever got a team again, that I'd be in on the ground floor. So when we lured the Browns here (after the NFL rejected our expansion offer... of which Art Modell quickly snatched up when put out to the other owners) and they became the Ravens, well... that's been my team since. I'm just glad that Cleveland got to keep their history intact and get another team. Some folks in Baltimore still cringe at the mention of Indianapolis Colts, but I myself do not have that stigma. The Baltimore Colts weren't even selling out playoff games before they left town; and it basically worked to put other cities on notice to modernize their stadium facilities or lose their team. To me that's all old history though. We have a team, it's won a Superbowl and we fill the stands. It's only the idiot sports writers that dredge up the old Indy/Baltimore feud whenever the two teams now play. It's sad really, because it only works to tell our current team that we want the Colts back. Anything for a story, I guess, but LA should have a pro football team. I don't think we need more expansion, as the league seems near perfectly balanced now with formatted, logical and fair scheduling. It'll be the next team to move, most likely, that will end up in LA. The league wants that market back.
