I purchased an Antigua 586 lacquer with two necks back in March of this year from Kessler Music. I have realized that I am just not a soprano player. It is a great horn, but I am finding that I just don't enjoy playing the soprano all that much. I find that I gravitate to the clarinet and the tenor instead, what with my limited practice time.

The Antigua is in perfect shape, it has less than 10 hours of playing time on it total. Absolutely no dents, scratches or anything. It would come with the case, all accessories, a Morgan Pro Tone mouthpiece, and the Runyon Quantum Metal 7 I bought for it.

If you are interested in purchasing; make me an offer. I would take $825 for it, including the Quantum and the Morgan. Shipping on you to Continental USA from Philly area. I would throw in a SAXRAX sop peg, and what's left of a box of ZZ Vandorens with it. New, they sell for the same, without the extras.

I also have a FANTASTIC Buescher Big B Silver Plate Tenor that is not seeing much playing time since I got my Series III. Tim Price describes this horn as awesome. The silver is new, with gold wash bell, and the engraving is still very sharp and looks tremendous. Gayle at Vintage Sax did the overhaul just over one year ago. It plays flawlessly. The sound is very comparable to the Series III, but I find that I really prefer the modern keywork on the III, and have trouble going back to the vintage.

I would consider trading it and the Antigua sop for another Series III Tenor, possibly silver, Ref 54 Tenor in antique finish, or maybe even a Mark VI, or Buescher THandC. If you want to purchase the Buescher Tenor, my asking price would be $2750. Yes, it is that good, ask Tim. Protec Contoured Case included, shipping on you to continental USA from Philadelphia, PA area.

If you are near Philly, we could meet to try them out. Make me an offer on either, I may just take it!

Thanks for your consideration. I want them to go to a good home. :)

Okay, let's try a price reduction. I would take $750 for the Antigua Soprano, without the Quantum Metal Mouthpiece, and without the SAXRAX soprano peg. I would consider a trade for an alto, either another antigua, or a vintage Buescher in playable condition.

The Silver Plate Buescher Big B Tenor is offered at $2500. Otherwise, I will keep it for awhile. Shipping on both would be from South Jersey via UPS, and included in the price to Continental USA only. Trade for modern tenor would be considered. Please let me know.

Here are some pics of the Buescher after the overhaul.

Thanks again.

Yes, I got this from Gayle in February of 2004. My original post made mention of this fact, but more should be said. She did a WONDERFUL job on it. I plays like a dream. I had Mike Hammer in Philly put a new thumb Selmer style LH thumb rest on it, as the other caused me to have to much motion to activate the octave key. He also did a regulation since the pads had over 50 hours on them, 6 months ago. Hope she doesn't mind me using the pics. I figure since I own it, and it looks so very close to these pics still, then it would be alright. Besides, every sax player who sees or hears it, knows that it came from Gayle. She should be be very proud of it, as it gets many compliments, especially at the church where I play.

And now I am starting to think twice about letting it go! I really do love this horn, but need about a half hour or so to really get used to it again each time. It would have to be a really nice trade to let go of this.

I am thinking of going up to Robertos to see if there is a horn there that I might like better, and see if he wants to barter. Judging by the lack of responses, and the fact that I won't let go of this cheap, that will be my course of action.

Thanks for your comments.

Have a great Holiday weekend! This one is the big five oh for me, so I will hoist a pint or five for you all!

Okay, the Antigua Soprano is "under negotiation" right now with two SOTW members. It will most likely be gone by early next week, unless someone comes through with the asking price sooner.

The Buescher Big B tenor is being looked at by another. I am considering taking slightly less for it, say $2300, in order to use the cash for a Mark VI I have my eye on. By the way, the Buescher comes with a like new, blue Pro Tec contoured case.

Email me with any further questions or offers. Larry G (toolinsax@yahoo.com)

Thanks for your responses!

yes, he mentions it in the first message,. Gayle did the overhaul about a year ago...I sure blew that one. When I saw the photo, it reminded me of one of Gayle's The Martin tenors I came very close to buying a few months ago, and regret that I didn't, but it just didn't work out.
