Selmer Radio Improved Tenor - Serial 20 000 (FYI, Zoot Sims' Radio Improved was 20 303)
Horn is in great shape - needs no work, pads have a lot of life left, action is tight. Lacquer is original, and quite worn from use - this horn has been played a lot! No dents, dings, major scratches etc - no sign of major repair. Owned, maintained and played by a professional.
This was the horn just before the Balanced Action, and is somewhat rare as they were only produced for 2 years (or so). Same body tube as a Balanced (I believe), but the bell keys are on the left side of the body.
Both Zoot Sims and Al Cohn played these horns, and this one blows with that sort of warm, centered sound. Intonation is good.
Selling it for an older musician who is paring down his collection - would love to buy this one myself.
